“Bulwell Road Collision: Three Pedestrians Struck”

Three pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on a bustling road, prompting emergency responders to swiftly transport the injured to a hospital.

The incident occurred in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, where emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, leading police to close off the road following the collision. An extensively damaged car was visible within a large cordon outside a Home Bargains store on Main Street.

Three ambulances were dispatched, as confirmed by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, to transport the three individuals to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. As of now, there have been no updates on the conditions of the pedestrians or the driver, who reportedly experienced a medical emergency.

Describing the chaotic scene, an employee at a nearby Heron Foods store, choosing to remain anonymous, expressed, “It’s a distressing situation. We were all inside when we heard a loud noise. Upon stepping outside, we were met with approximately 15 police cars. Spectators were taking photos, prompting authorities to expand the cordon further down the road.

“Numerous accounts are circulating about the incident, but the truth will eventually surface, as it always does,” the employee added.

An elderly Bulwell resident, who declined to disclose their identity, mentioned that the cordon had been in place for several hours, stating, “It has been like this for quite some time now – at one point, about 15 of us were observing. Although I need to reach GB Home Bargain, it is crucial they maintain the closure if people are injured.”

Traffic congestion in Bulwell was evident post-incident, with a map illustrating a standstill near the bus station and surrounding areas, causing slower traffic movement than usual.

Main Street in Bulwell was temporarily shut down in both directions following the accident, believed by authorities to have resulted from a driver’s medical condition earlier in the day.

According to Nottingham Travelwise, the closure extended from the junction of Station Road to Highbury Road. Inrix, a traffic monitoring service, reported queuing traffic from Jennison Street to Ravensworth Road.

A significant cordon obstructed access between Bulwell Bus Station and the town square on Main Street, redirecting pedestrians to use High Road as an alternative route.

Although the town square remained operational, with a few onlookers present, a police vehicle further down Highbury Road near B&M restricted access to the square.

While a visibly damaged car was situated within the cordon outside the GB Home Bargain store, the store itself appeared unscathed.

A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Police reported, “We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and three pedestrians on Main Street, Bulwell.

“Preliminary assessments suggest the driver experienced a medical episode while driving. Due to ongoing investigations, the road closure is expected to persist. Alternative routes are recommended, and individuals are advised to avoid the area.”
