Apple’s most recent iPhone model has hit its lowest price ever, coinciding with an upcoming addition to the smartphone lineup. Sky Mobile is offering the iPhone 16e for £18, marking a significant discount for shoppers.
In anticipation of Apple’s live stream event on September 9, where the unveiling of the highly anticipated iPhone 17 is expected, excitement is building among tech enthusiasts. Apple CEO Tim Cook’s teaser post on X hints at a thrilling #AppleEvent on the horizon.
While specifics about the new iPhone models remain undisclosed, speculations suggest the introduction of the iPhone 17 Pro and the rumored iPhone 17 Air. The latter is anticipated to follow the trend of Apple’s other “Air” products, offering a sleeker and more compact design.
As consumers eagerly await the launch of the new Apple devices, Sky Mobile’s promotional offer on the current iPhone 16e makes the device even more accessible. Previously priced at £19, the discounted £18 deal translates to a savings of £48 over the duration of the plan.
The iPhone 16e package includes 100MB of data as standard, with options for increased data allowances at reduced rates, such as 50GB for £12 or unlimited data for £20. Sky Mobile’s contract terms typically span 36 months, with the option to upgrade to a new device from 24 months at no extra charge.
Sky isn’t the only retailer slashing prices ahead of the Apple event; Amazon has reduced the iPhone 16e’s price from £599 to £544 for those opting to purchase outright. This offer undercuts Apple’s own £599 price tag for the same model.
Launched in February, the iPhone 16e is positioned as a more budget-friendly alternative to the standard iPhone 16, boasting powerful capabilities powered by Apple’s latest A18 chip. Featuring a 6.1” Super Retina XDR display, the device is equipped with advanced AI features through Apple Intelligence, offering functionalities like object removal in images and ChatGPT writing tools. Additionally, the iPhone 16e includes a 48MP Fusion camera, 4K video recording with Dolby Vision, and safety features like Emergency SOS and Roadside Assistance.
Tech expert Dave Snelling reviewed the iPhone 16e earlier this year, praising its premium design, including toughened Ceramic Shield glass and aerospace-grade aluminum. He highlighted the device’s 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR screen, powerful A18 processor, and access to Apple Intelligence as standout features.
Despite these positives, Dave noted some drawbacks of the iPhone 16e, such as the absence of upgrades like Apple’s Dynamic Island notch, MagSafe charging, and the latest Ceramic Shield glass found in higher-end models. However, the device remains a solid choice for users looking for a cost-effective option, especially with current deals in place.
