“Student Hero Rescues Lives in Blaze Tragedy”

A student bravely shared his account of repeatedly entering and exiting the burning Le Constellation bar to rescue individuals in a courageous effort to save lives. Ferdinand Du Beaudiez, 19, was present at the nightspot with six companions, including his brother who is currently in a coma, and his girlfriend when the fire erupted around 1:30 am on New Year’s Eve. Recalling the harrowing incident during his first return to the scene, Ferdinand provided a compelling testimony about the fire’s initial moments.

He described witnessing the ignition of the fire, attempting to extinguish it with water, and the subsequent chaotic environment that resembled a war zone. Ferdinand, a finance and economics student at Munich University, recounted the sequence of events where the fire originated from champagne bottles causing the roof to catch fire due to flammable materials. Despite his efforts to douse the flames with water, the fire quickly spread uncontrollably.

Ferdinand then recounted the moment when he guided his girlfriend upstairs amidst the chaotic situation, emphasizing the overwhelming presence of people and smoke. Subsequently, as the fire intensified, he experienced a burning sensation on his neck as the lack of breathable air became prominent.

In a desperate move, Ferdinand utilized a table leg to extricate himself from the perilous situation. Even after re-entering the bar to rescue an unconscious individual, he faced challenges due to the overwhelming smoke. His actions were marked by courage and determination as he strived to save lives within the engulfed premises.

The tragic incident, which unfolded at an Alpine ski resort in Switzerland during a New Year celebration, resulted in approximately 40 fatalities and 115 injuries, with most injuries being severe. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the devastating event.

Ferdinand expressed his concern for his brother, who remains in a coma, and provided updates on the condition of his friends who are conscious and receiving care. Describing the aftermath outside the bar, Ferdinand recounted the efforts of emergency personnel in triaging and assisting the injured individuals.

Mourners paid their respects by leaving tributes near the Constellation bar, with a spontaneous memorial emerging at the ski resort. Additionally, a somber atmosphere prevailed as individuals gathered at the Church of Montana-Station to offer prayers for the victims of the tragic incident.
