Allied Pharmacies Rescues 60 Jhoots Branches

Allied Pharmacies, a prominent pharmacy chain, has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competitor from financial collapse. These branches, previously operated by Jhoots Pharmacies, are currently closed, but Allied has pledged to restore essential pharmacy services at these locations. This acquisition expands Allied’s network to approximately 210 branches in England and Wales.

Recognizing the vital role of community pharmacies in public health, Allied emphasized its commitment to promptly resume pharmaceutical services at the newly acquired sites. Concerns were raised recently when Jhoots Pharmacies faced closures, potentially leaving communities without essential healthcare access and causing financial difficulties for staff.

The Jhoots Pharmacies are jointly owned by Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with Manjit overseeing over 20 branches and denying any operational issues. Sarbjit, on the other hand, manages the majority of the remaining 129 locations and has acknowledged challenges in workforce and recruitment, which he is actively addressing.

In response to inquiries, a spokesperson for Manjit Jhooty affirmed the stability and functionality of the pharmacies under his management, emphasizing their commitment to serving local communities. The Mirror has reached out to Jhoots Pharmacies for further comments on the situation.
