“Morrisons Slashes Baileys Price to £11 for Festive Season”

Morrisons has reduced the price of a 1L bottle of Baileys to £11 in anticipation of the upcoming festive season. This offer represents a £3 discount from its regular price of £14 and is valid until Sunday, November 2 in England and Wales, with no loyalty card required for the discounted rate.

Currently, the same-sized bottle of Baileys is priced at £13.98 in Asda, £22 (£14 with a Nectar card) in Sainsbury’s, and £22.50 (£14 with a Clubcard) in Tesco. Last year, Morrisons had offered Baileys for £8.50, but customers needed to spend £45 and be a Morrisons More member to access the deal.

Sainsbury’s and Tesco had lowered the price of Baileys to £10 last year for Nectar and Clubcard members. Baileys is a creamy Irish liqueur made from whiskey, cream, and hints of cocoa and vanilla.

In other news, Morrisons is planning to convert many corner shops into Morrisons-branded convenience stores. The supermarket aims to open 250 new Morrisons Daily convenience stores next year by allowing corner shop owners to transition their shops into Morrisons franchises, focusing primarily on areas with limited Morrisons presence, such as cities in the south and the Midlands.

This strategic move signals a significant acceleration in Morrisons’ expansion plans, with around 160 new convenience stores set to open this year alone. A Morrisons spokesperson highlighted the company’s ambition to bring Morrisons Daily to more customers across the UK through a franchise model that facilitates rapid store growth in a capital-efficient manner.

Meanwhile, Morrisons is undergoing a restructuring phase, with plans to close 103 stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year. The supermarket has already shut down 17 Morrisons Daily convenience stores as part of this reorganization. Additionally, more than 50 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies, and all 18 Market Kitchens are slated for closure, along with 35 meat counters and 35 fish counters, as these services were deemed financially unsustainable.

Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, emphasized the company’s commitment to collaborating with third parties to provide specialized services in stores where counters or cafes are being closed. Despite the impact on some employees, Morrisons is striving to implement these changes to enhance operational efficiency.
