A man has been accused of murder in connection with the reported stabbing of a man on New Year’s Eve.
Anthony Junior Murray, aged 25 and residing on Tarn Drive in Bury, has been formally charged with murder and possessing a bladed item, as confirmed by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in a recent announcement. Mr. Murray has been detained in custody and is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court later today.
Joe Burton, a 24-year-old man identified in legal documents, tragically lost his life at the scene. The GMP has stated that inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Photos taken at Tarn Drive depict a section of the street still cordoned off. A forensic tent has been set up, and investigators are collecting photographic evidence.
A woman in her twenties was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, although she has been released on bail pending further investigation.
The GMP is seeking information regarding the incident and has encouraged the public to reach out through 101 or the Live Chat feature on the GMP website, referencing log 3529 dated 31.12.2025. The police have requested any available CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the vicinity to be shared.
