Adam Peaty extended a questionable invitation to his father before his wedding ceremony. The swimmer reportedly informed his father, Mark, that he could be present at the wedding but would need to sit at the back of the church.
Over 200 friends and family members gathered at Bath Abbey in Somerset to witness Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay exchange vows amid a very public rift between Adam and his family. The majority of Adam’s close relatives were notably uninvited to the wedding, with only his sister, Bethany, permitted to attend.
Despite the emotional turmoil experienced by his mother, Caroline, who expressed feeling deeply hurt, Adam and Holly proceeded with their wedding in front of a star-studded audience that included celebrities like Victoria Beckham and broadcaster Dan Walker.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds departed the church to the sound of joyful bells and made their way to their reception at Kin House, a Georgian manor house near Chippenham, located 17 miles away.
Recent revelations suggest that Adam’s father was actually invited to the wedding, contrary to previous assumptions. A source close to the family criticized Adam for not reaching out to his parents beforehand, describing the situation as “disgusting.”
The Peaty family discord traces back to September 2024 when Adam and Holly excluded extended family members from their engagement celebrations. Caroline was also notably left out of Holly’s hen party at Soho Farmhouse, while other notable figures like Victoria Beckham were in attendance.
Despite the strained relations, Caroline sent her son a birthday card and gift for his 31st birthday. In contrast, Holly’s father, Gordon Ramsay, played a prominent role in the wedding, expressing pride as he escorted his daughter down the aisle to marry Adam Peaty.
The bridesmaids, including Peaty’s sister Bethany and Holly’s two sisters, were elegantly dressed in red silk gowns outside the church. Prior to the ceremony, Caroline Peaty opened up about the family rift, emphasizing her love for her son and daughter-in-law and her desire for their happiness.
Adam Peaty’s representative has been approached for comment on the matter. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, Holly’s father, shared his excitement on Instagram about walking his daughter down the aisle and embracing Adam as his son-in-law.
The couple’s journey to marriage began when Peaty met Holly through her sister Tilly while both were participating in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
