Father Honored After Fatal Car Crash; Suspect in Custody

A father has been honored by his family following his tragic death in a severe car accident. Stephen Jones, aged 33, sustained critical injuries in the accident on Christmas Eve and passed away on January 3. His partner, a 34-year-old woman, is currently in a stable condition in the hospital, while their eight-year-old son suffered minor injuries and is being looked after by extended family.

In a heartfelt tribute, Stephen’s family described him as a cherished son, brother, partner, uncle, and most importantly, a father. They emphasized that Stephen’s role as a father was of utmost importance to him. The family recalled him as a devoted friend, a lifelong Everton supporter, and a man dedicated to helping others. His passion for coaching grassroots children’s football left a lasting impact on numerous lives.

The family expressed deep sorrow over Stephen’s passing, stating that his absence would be irreplaceable. They emphasized that he would be profoundly missed but forever loved and remembered. A 32-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested at the crash site. The police have released him on bail under certain conditions as they investigate charges including causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Serious Collision Investigation unit extended condolences to Stephen’s family during this tragic period.
