Ariana Grande has voiced her disapproval for the second time this summer over the Trump administration using her music in a social media post. The Team Trump account recently included her song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” in a TikTok post that tagged the Grammy-winning artist.
The post featured clips of President Trump walking up to a podium to speak, with text quoting part of Grande’s 2024 hit track. Grande responded in the comments section, stating, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”
Following Grande’s comment, the sound on the post was disabled, and her comment was apparently removed, although screenshots of it were reposted by the audience. This incident comes after Grande criticized the administration in mid-June for using her song “Bye” in a TikTok video related to immigration policy.
Grande joins a long list of artists who have objected to the Trump team using their music, including Neil Young, John Fogerty, Queen, the Rolling Stones, ABBA, Beyoncé, and estates of Leonard Cohen, Prince, and Tom Petty.
Some artists, like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, have taken swift action to have their music removed from Team Trump’s social media videos, often citing copyright infringement claims.
