Beyonce and Jay-Z are rumored to be utilizing a legal loophole often used by wealthy individuals to construct their ideal estate in the Cotswolds. The celebrity couple has allegedly acquired a 58-acre parcel in the picturesque area to establish a vacation retreat for their family.
Reports suggest that they have received approval to develop a seven-bedroom residence on the property, currently occupied by a dilapidated structure and a lake covered with algae. This development reportedly falls under a special provision in the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework, known colloquially as the “rich person clause,” as it requires a substantial financial investment to bypass standard regulations.
The land, purchased for around £7.5 million, was described as a one-of-a-kind location with a charming woodland lake and exceptional countryside views. Despite the presence of other prominent figures like the Beckhams and Jeremy Clarkson in the vicinity, some locals have expressed concerns about potential changes in the village’s dynamics.
Architectural plans obtained by the Mirror portray the property as a “spectacular rural estate” offering seamless indoor-outdoor living and a blend of contemporary design with sustainable construction practices. Beyonce and Jay-Z reportedly scouted the land via helicopter during the summer months, considering it as a suitable UK residence away from the city, in proximity to their celebrity friends.
Following the aftermath of the LA wildfires, it was speculated that the couple sought a UK base for additional security. While their primary residence remains in LA, the UK is reportedly being considered as a secondary location due to Beyonce’s fondness for the country’s supportive environment.
