Former romantic interest of Prince Harry, Catherine Ommanney, has responded to allegations of leaving a hotel in Majorca without settling the bill, attributing the issue to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud following claims by the Playas del Rey Hotel that she had not paid her nearly £450 bill after a nine-day stay, accruing a €500 charge. Investigators assert that she provided a credit card with insufficient funds.
In contradiction, Ommanney vehemently denied the accusations of non-payment, labeling them as unfounded. She asserted, “The bill was settled, and I have evidence of full payment. The hotel’s error necessitates an apology through the legal system.”
Speaking to Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described the incident as a “nightmare day,” clarifying that the bill was paid via bank transfer as the hotel did not accept credit cards. She expressed displeasure over her detainment.
Ommanney was pictured with a Civil Guard officer on her way to a closed-door hearing in Palma yesterday evening. She reportedly appeared in court under a previous surname due to a past marriage.
Following her release on bail pending further investigation, it remains unclear whether she has testified in court or elaborated on the events leading to her arrest. Her lawyer declined to comment on the situation without her approval.
When contacted for a statement, the Playas del Rey Hotel receptionist indicated unavailability for press inquiries. Ommanney refrained from immediate comment upon her release, and the exact location of her arrest remains undisclosed.
An interior designer by profession, Ommanney gained recognition as one of the original main cast members on the Real Housewives of DC. In a previous interview, she disclosed a brief relationship with Prince Harry in 2006, highlighting their age difference and the depth of their interactions.
