Cheryl Tweedy made sure her son Bear had a special holiday season, marking their second Christmas without Liam Payne. The Girls Aloud star treated eight-year-old Bear, who shares his late father’s passion for animals, to a three-night stay at a safari park in Kent. The unique experience included lodging in a glass-sided lodge where they could observe lions, tigers, leopards, and rhinos up close.
Accompanied by her mother Joan and younger brother Garry, Cheryl and Bear enjoyed their time at Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve. Bear was reportedly overjoyed to encounter the park’s wildlife, both at the luxurious ‘tiger lodge’ and during the nature reserve’s ‘ultimate safari tour’ on an open-sided Land Rover.
Bear had the opportunity to see real spectacled bears, the inspiration behind the famous character Paddington Bear. These bears, native to South America, are known for the light markings around their eyes resembling spectacles. This trip came 15 months after the tragic passing of One Direction member Liam Payne, Bear’s father.
Photos captured by The Mail on Sunday showed the family exploring the safari park, with Cheryl opting for a casual look in a brown puffer coat and a trapper-style hat. Bear was particularly fascinated by the African section of the park, especially the giraffe enclosure where he watched in awe as the animals fed.
Visitors at the park mentioned that Bear appeared thrilled and captivated by the safari experience. Cheryl’s efforts to ensure Bear’s happiness, especially during the holiday season without his father, were evident and appreciated by onlookers.
During their visit to the park, managed by The Aspinall Foundation, Bear and his family enjoyed a magical winter wonderland experience, including a visit to Santa’s grotto, vintage funfair rides, and the park’s first fairy disco. Bear’s excitement continued as they explored the dinosaur section, a shared interest with his late father, Liam.
Liam and Cheryl first met in 2008 on The X Factor set, leading to a relationship that resulted in the birth of their son Bear in 2017. Despite their split in 2018, they remain committed to co-parenting their son. Cheryl, who has not publicly dated since, expressed contentment with her life focusing on raising Bear.
