A man with three children traveled 285 miles for his driving test, only for it to be canceled due to a wet seat. He now faces a wait until April for another chance. Jacob Caroll, 27, had struggled to find a nearby test slot and eventually opted for Scarborough, a 300-mile journey from home.
Despite preparing the car meticulously for the drive, a few raindrops on the passenger seat led to the examiner refusing to proceed with the test. Jacob’s efforts to reason with her were in vain, resulting in the cancellation and the need to reschedule.
Jacob, a shift manager from Chichester, expressed frustration at the situation, highlighting the inconvenience of the rescheduled test in April. The incident has left him anxious about the next attempt, especially considering the lack of communication about the weather conditions during the test.
Jacob’s mother-in-law, Vicky Bagshaw, shared her disbelief at the turn of events and the strain it has placed on the family. She emphasized Jacob’s competence as a learner driver and the impact his ability to drive would have on his family, particularly his wife and children.
The DVSA spokesperson refrained from commenting on individual cases but encouraged any learner driver who feels mistreated to report such incidents promptly for investigation.
