“Fugitive Convicts Escape Prison, Authorities on High Alert”

Convicted murderer Matthew Armstrong and violent offender Daniel Washbourne have escaped from prison on New Year’s Day and are currently evading authorities.

Authorities from Avon and Somerset Police are actively searching for the fugitives, as they apprehended another escaped prisoner today. Armstrong and Washbourne absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire between 5pm and 8pm on January 1.

Law enforcement officials have urged the public to immediately contact 999 if they spot the duo, who are not local to the area and have connections across different regions.

“HMP Leyhill notified us of the escapees on Thursday evening, prompting our officers to commence an investigation at approximately 9.45pm,” stated the police. “We have obtained CCTV footage capturing the attire worn by the individuals on New Year‘s Day, which we are releasing today to aid our public appeal for information.”

Armstrong, characterized as a white male standing around 5 feet 9 inches tall with ginger hair and forehead scars, was last seen donning a burgundy/orange coat, a grey cap, grey tracksuit bottoms with blue detailing, and black boots.

Having ties to Warwickshire, Armstrong was convicted in the late 2000s for a murder committed during a robbery in the same region.

Washbourne, described as a white male approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, slim, with brown hair and a clean-shaven face, was last spotted in a cream fleece, blue tracksuit bottoms, a blue hat, and black trainers.

With affiliations in Herefordshire, Washbourne has prior convictions related to person offenses and false imprisonment.

Authorities from Avon and Somerset Police have advised the public not to approach either of the fugitives.

If either of the individuals depicted in the photos is sighted, individuals are urged to call 999 immediately and reference number 5226000700. Alternatively, if you possess information that could aid in the investigation, please contact 101.
