“Google’s Fitbit Air: Affordable, Screen-less Fitness Tracker”

Fitbit has a long history of aiding users in maintaining an active lifestyle, spanning over 15 years. Now, under the ownership of Google, the company is introducing a new product called the Fitbit Air. This innovative device offers a more affordable and convenient method of monitoring daily fitness levels. Unlike previous Fitbit models, the Fitbit Air does not feature a screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that are worn on the wrist like a stylish accessory.

Although the lack of a screen means losing certain features like message notifications, heart rate monitoring, and exercise stats display, the Fitbit Air comes with notable advantages. It boasts a comfortable bracelet-style design, which recent studies by Google have proven to be more comfortable than its leading competitors.

Moreover, the Fitbit Air excels in battery life, promising a week of usage on a single charge. Additionally, it offers fast charging capabilities, providing a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. The device comes with a new magnetic charger equipped with bi-directional technology, allowing for easy recharging without worrying about orientation.

Despite its sleek and minimalistic appearance, the Fitbit Air remains true to its core functionality as a Fitbit device. It monitors various health metrics such as nightly sleep patterns, activity levels, daily exercise, heart rate, and can even detect conditions like AFib, notifying users of irregular heart rhythms.

Internally, the Fitbit Air houses features like an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor. As there is no screen, all the data collected is transmitted directly to smartphones, where Google Health Coach can provide a comprehensive overview of the user’s health status.

The Fitbit Air is fully water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be available in four colors: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender. When it hits the market, the Fitbit Air will be priced at £84.99.
