“Horror Flick ‘Obsession’ Hits $500M, Shatters Box Office Records”

The horror film “Obsession” has surpassed $500 million at the global box office, making it the first original movie of the 2020s to achieve this milestone. The movie, directed by Curry Barker and released on May 15, has outperformed Pixar’s “Elemental” to become the highest-grossing original film post-pandemic. With a production budget of only $750,000, “Obsession” has also become the highest-grossing film made for less than $1 million, surpassing the iconic “Enter the Dragon.” The film’s success has led to new opportunities for its cast, with Inde Navarette set to star in Marvel’s upcoming “X-Men” film and Michael Johnston in talks for Universal’s “The Mummy” movie. Barker is now working on a new horror film titled “Anything but Ghosts,” in which he will also star alongside co-writer Cooper Tomlinson. The film is set to be released in South Korea, adding to its already remarkable commercial achievements.
