A 31-year-old bartender known for his radiant smile was discovered deceased in his London apartment, believed to have suffered a heart attack. Matteo Leone was found unconscious by his flatmates early on Sunday, January 4. Despite immediate emergency response, Matteo passed away, likely in his sleep. While awaiting post-mortem results, initial indications suggest a potential heart attack as the cause of death.
Matteo was described as content in his role as a bartender in London, as evidenced by a cheerful photo of him crafting a cocktail at Shoreditch’s Looking Glass Cocktail Club. Originally from Canosa di Puglia, Matteo relocated to London after his studies to embrace city life and enhance his English skills, having spent much of his earlier life in Castiglione Messer Raimondo near Pescara.
His grieving father, Graziano Leone, a police station chief in Pescara, flew to London upon hearing the news. Matteo leaves behind his mother and three siblings. A memorial vigil was held in his honor at Shoreditch Park.
Plans are underway to repatriate Matteo’s remains to Italy. A friend, Mirko, expressed his sorrow, reminiscing about Matteo’s joyful demeanor and presence. The message concluded with a heartfelt farewell: “Have a good journey, Matté.”
