Ronnie O’Sullivan recently shared his struggles with self-doubt following his defeat in the final of the World Open on Sunday. The seven-time world champion lost 10-7 to Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in Yushan, despite initially leading 4-0 in the match.
O’Sullivan, who had defeated world No.1 Judd Trump in the semi-final, missed out on the £175,000 prize as Un-Nooh staged a remarkable comeback with a 147-break and three consecutive centuries. Reflecting on his performance, O’Sullivan decided to skip the Tour Championship in Manchester but aims to compete in the upcoming Snooker World Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield starting on April 18.
Expressing his mixed feelings about his form, O’Sullivan admitted to struggling with consistency throughout the season. Despite his technical challenges, he acknowledged Thepchaiya’s exceptional performance and acknowledged his opponent’s well-deserved victory.
The Rocket, who last won a ranking title in January 2024, emphasized the need to improve his game to compete at the highest level. While recognizing his limitations on the table, O’Sullivan remains optimistic about his future prospects and is focused on taking each day as it comes to regain his form and competitiveness in the sport.
