Topshop is making a comeback to UK high streets through a new collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned fashion brand, which closed its standalone stores in 2021, will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis and on its website. Additionally, Topman products will be available in seven of these stores.
The launch will showcase a curated collection of 130 of Topshop’s most sought-after items, with a focus on their popular denim pieces. This move follows a series of successful pop-up events in various John Lewis stores. It is part of John Lewis’ substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.
Topshop and its sibling brand Topman exited the UK high street after the collapse of their former owner, Arcadia, in 2021. The brands were subsequently acquired by ASOS, which initially sold Topshop products online. Last year, Topshop made a return to London’s Oxford Street through a partnership with department store Liberty.
Michelle Wilson, the managing director of Topshop, expressed excitement about the collaboration with John Lewis, emphasizing the convenience it offers customers in accessing their favorite Topshop and Topman pieces. The partnership aims to provide customers with the high-quality service they expect from the brands.
The reentry of Topshop coincides with London Fashion Week and will be accompanied by a significant presence in Piccadilly Circus and other locations across the UK. John Lewis is leveraging this collaboration as part of its strategy to enhance its fashion offerings and drive growth. According to Peter Ruis, managing director of John Lewis, the brand is committed to becoming a leading fashion authority on the British high street by introducing iconic brands like Topshop alongside other new and exciting labels.
In line with its growth plans, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory brands for the upcoming season, further solidifying its position as a go-to destination for stylish and innovative offerings.
