“Trainer with Two Horses Celebrates Upset Win at Punchestown”

A trainer who only had two horses achieved a significant victory with his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. This victory came against tough competition from horses trained by prominent stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Connor King, the handler, outperformed the competition with Oscars Brother, guided by his brother Daniel, who rode the seven-year-old to victory at the County Kildare circuit. Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, maintained a leading position throughout the race, showcasing impressive jumps and finishing three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s yard.

Before this triumph, Oscars Brother had prepared for the three-mile race on challenging ground at Galway. The duo now aims to develop Oscars Brother into a Grade One contender, with their yard currently training only one other racehorse.

Daniel expressed his joy at winning for his brother, praising Oscars Brother’s qualities and the competitive nature of the race. Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, hinted at a possible entry into the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the festive season, highlighting Oscars Brother’s potential as a talented chaser.

Reflecting on Oscars Brother’s progress from hurdles to chasing, Connor recalled their strategic approach and aspirations for future races, including the Faugheen Novices’ Chase, which they view as a significant target.
