Tragic Waters: Mother, Daughter, Good Samaritan Perish

Coastguard officials have revealed new information regarding the tragic incident involving a mother, child, and a brave passerby near Withernsea. A rescue operation was initiated urgently to save Sarah Keeling, 45, and her daughter Grace Keeling, 15, who encountered difficulties in the waters off the East Yorkshire Coast. Despite the efforts of Mark Ratcliffe to assist, all three individuals lost their lives.

Local rescue teams from Hornsea Inshore Rescue and RNLI were deployed to locate the victims. The HM Coastguard joined the search on Saturday morning, but due to challenging conditions, the search mission was halted at 4 pm that day with no plans for further rescue efforts.

A spokesperson from Hornsea Inshore Rescue described the adverse conditions faced by the rescuers and expressed condolences for the deceased individuals. The statement acknowledged the bravery of all involved in the rescue operation.

The statement highlighted the obstacles faced during the rescue, mentioning the large waves that initially prevented an immediate launch. Eventually, a decision was made to proceed with the rescue operation, involving multiple teams working together until the search patterns were completed.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Ratcliffe’s family remembered him as a selfless hero who sacrificed his life in an attempt to save others. They expressed deep sorrow over the loss and described him as a beloved family member who will be dearly missed.

The rescue team extended their sympathies to all affected by the tragic event, emphasizing their thoughts and support for the families of Mark, Sarah, and Grace during this difficult time.
