Firefighters successfully controlled a fire outbreak at a high-rise building in Stockport this evening. Multiple fire engines swiftly responded to the incident at Hanover Towers on Lancashire Hill.
The emergency response vehicles rushed to the scene as smoke billowed from a top-floor apartment in the tower block. According to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), the fire was reported around 7:30 pm. Fire crews from Offerton, Whitehill, Stockport, and Wythenshawe fire stations arrived promptly.
The fire was caused by a blocked bin chute within the building, leading to flames. Firefighters utilized water across different levels of the structure to extinguish the fire and clear the blockages. The operation lasted approximately 90 minutes.
