Nicola Golen’s two-minute extra-time goal secured a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto on Sunday at TD Place. Golen’s equalizer in the 92nd minute earned the league-leading Rapid an additional point in the standings. Melanie Forbes also contributed a goal for Ottawa (10-2-3) in the 13th minute.
Meanwhile, Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky found the net for third-place Toronto (7-4-4). The game saw both teams reduced to 10 players in the 63rd minute following red cards shown to Choo Hyojoo of the Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg of AFC Toronto.
In other news, earlier on the same day, Ottawa’s TD Place was selected as the venue for the upcoming Northern Super League final scheduled for November 14.
