Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Larry Brock has announced his resignation from the House of Commons next month. Brock, who represents the Ontario constituency of Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations, was elected to Parliament in both the 2021 and 2025 elections. Prior to his political career, he worked as an assistant Crown attorney.
In a social media post on Thursday, Brock revealed that he has accepted an opportunity to return to the Brantford Crown Attorney’s office, where he will be directly involved in the frontlines of justice. His resignation is set to take effect on September 18, as stated in his departure letter.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre expressed gratitude towards Brock for his service as an MP in a brief message shared on X. Poilievre extended his best wishes to Brock and his family for success and happiness.
Following the 2025 federal election, the Conservative Party secured the second-highest number of seats. However, since then, seven MPs, including Brock, have departed from the party’s federal caucus. Four Conservative MPs switched sides to join the ruling Liberals, namely Chris d’Entremont, Michael Ma, Matt Jeneroux, and Marilyn Gladu. Additionally, Richard Martel, the former MP for Chicoutimi—Le Fjord in Quebec, was appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Mark Carney in July.
Another Conservative MP, Cathay Wagantall, who has served since 2015, will be stepping down from her seat in Yorkton—Melville, Saskatchewan, effective August 31.
