“Montreal Man Arrested for Alleged Death Threats Against Canadian PM”

Canada’s national police force announced on Monday that a 51-year-old individual has been arrested for allegedly issuing death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney. Marc-André Porlier, a resident of Montreal, has been formally charged with making threats to cause death or bodily harm, as per an RCMP press release. The threats in question were reportedly sent via email to various undisclosed recipients, including a senator, as outlined by law enforcement officials in the release.

According to the charges filed, the accused also made threats against “all Canadian police officers.” Authorities confirmed that Porlier had previously been convicted of arson and mischief for setting fire to a church in Toronto in 2017. The RCMP spokesperson mentioned that Porlier was under probation for these offenses at the time of his recent arrest.

Porlier made an appearance in court on Saturday, as mentioned in the news release, with a note emphasizing that the charges against him are yet to be proven in a court of law.
