Taylor Swift Songs Removed from Trump Campaign Videos

Several Taylor Swift tracks have been taken down from social media videos shared by the campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House. The White House and a representative for Swift did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Swift has not recently addressed Trump, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not want Trump as the president.

Trump has been critical of Swift, especially after she endorsed Harris. In response, he expressed his dislike for Swift on social media. Other artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music.

TikTok Videos Reference Taylor Swift Hits

The Trump campaign showcased two Taylor Swift songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video, captioned with a reference to one of Swift’s famous songs, depicted various scenarios. In June, another video posted by Trump’s campaign on TikTok featured Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the supposed movie “Toy Story 5,” with a caption praising Trump’s love for the country.

This marked the third instance of Trump’s team using Taylor Swift’s songs in recent months. In April, a video shared by the White House included Swift’s “High Infidelity,” and in November, a TikTok video featured “The Fate of Ophelia” from Swift’s album “The Life of a Showgirl,” showcasing patriotic imagery and photos of Trump.

The use of Swift’s music in these videos sparked significant reactions on social media. A White House spokesperson explained that these videos were intentionally created to attract media attention. The Trump communications team has a history of featuring popular songs in videos depicting various events, including immigration policies, military actions, and political situations.
