“Wedding “Trash the Dress” Photoshoot Tragedy Sparks Safety Concerns”

A tragic incident unfolded when a young woman passed away shortly after her wedding, leaving local police sergeant Ronald McInnis anticipating widespread attention. Maria Pantazopoulos, 30, drowned while participating in a “trash the dress” photoshoot, a trend where brides intentionally damage their wedding gowns for symbolic reasons. The fatal accident occurred as she wore her bridal gown and attempted to take photos near a waterfall in Montreal.

The photographer, Louis Pagakis, suggested the location near a 60ft-high cascade, unaware of the gown’s absorbent nature. Despite efforts to rescue her, the heavy dress prevented Maria from staying afloat, leading to her tragic death. The family emphasized Maria would not have knowingly put herself in danger and called for increased safety measures at similar locations to prevent future tragedies.

In a similar incident, a video of a bride, Amy Zuno, also struggling in her wedding dress while in water gained online popularity. The dress’s weight pulled her underwater, causing panic among onlookers. Fortunately, she was rescued, expressing no regrets afterward. These incidents serve as cautionary tales about the risks associated with such photo shoots.
