£10,000 Reward Offered in Brutal Murder Case

A reward of £10,000 is being offered to assist in locating a suspect who is believed to have fled to Turkey after brutally torturing and killing his romantic rival. Crimestoppers is providing the cash reward and urging individuals to come forward with any information leading to the apprehension of 38-year-old Ceyhan Dinler. Reports indicate that Dinler left the country in November 2024 following the fatal stabbing of Cumali Turhan in Chelmsford, Essex. Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe from Essex Police emphasized the importance of bringing justice to Cumali’s family.

The victim, Mr. Turhan, aged 45, was fatally stabbed in the neck after enduring torture on November 19, 2024. It was revealed in court that Dinler had discovered Mr. Turhan’s secret relationship with his girlfriend. The court heard that the two men were seen together at a pub shortly before Mr. Turhan was mutilated and killed.

During the horrific incident, parts of the victim’s tongue and genitals were severed and discarded in a bin. Police examination suggested that the tongue had been forcefully removed while Mr. Turhan was alive. Following a 47-day search, detectives located the victim’s body at a landfill site in Colchester.

Regarding the case, Detective Chief Inspector Metcalfe stated the determination of law enforcement to find Mr. Turhan’s body and bring closure to his family. Furthermore, an individual was sentenced to seven years in prison for aiding in the suspected murder and improper disposal of Mr. Turhan’s body. The trial revealed an underlying conflict between Dinler and Mr. Turhan over a mutual love interest.

Crimestoppers’ Eastern Regional Manager, Phil Breckton, assured complete anonymity to anyone assisting the investigation. Breckton emphasized the significance of providing closure and justice to Cumali Turhan’s family. Additionally, a recent Channel 4 documentary showcased CCTV footage of the moments leading up to the suspected murder at a pub in Chelmsford.

It is believed that Dinler enticed Mr. Turhan to another location where the fatal stabbing occurred. Detectives found incriminating evidence, including the victim’s blood and the suspect’s fingerprint, linking Dinler to the crime scene. The severity of the act, involving torture and murder, shocked investigators and the community.

Information related to the case can be shared anonymously with Crimestoppers, and the reward offer will remain valid until 6 April.
