“Manhattan Launches S4-R 4K TV Recorder as Sky Q Competitor”

Sky Q has long been a popular TV device in the UK, offering the convenience of recording content onto its internal hard drive. Now, Manhattan’s TV Team has introduced a new competitor, the S4-R Freesat 4K TV Recorder. This device functions similarly to Sky Q, utilizing a satellite dish for programming delivery and providing storage for recordings. Users can enjoy features such as an interactive TV guide and the ability to pause live TV.

One significant advantage of the Manhattan S4-R is its lack of subscription fees, offering access to over 100 free TV and radio channels. While it doesn’t provide premium content like Sky Sports or Sky Cinema, it remains a cost-effective option for entertainment seekers. The S4-R can record multiple channels simultaneously and comes with a 500GB hard drive, expandable to larger capacities for those needing more storage. Additionally, it offers live TV controls for pausing and rewinding broadcasts.

Manhattan promises a user-friendly interface for the S4-R, along with search functionalities and access to a vast library of on-demand content through various apps like BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, and My5. The company’s COO, Alex Arbab-Zadeh, highlights the enhanced recording capabilities of the S4-R, allowing up to four simultaneous recordings.

Positioned as a compelling alternative to subscription-based TV services, the Manhattan S4-R will be available from retailers such as Currys, John Lewis, Argos, and Richer Sounds. The device starts at £219.99 for the 500GB model, with the 1TB version launching in May for £249.99 and the 2TB model in June for £279.99.
