Amazon has announced the launch of its Alexa+ platform in the UK for Echo smart speaker owners. Alexa+ offers advanced features, making interactions more conversational and personalized. Users can expect Alexa to learn their preferences, adjust her tone based on situations, and provide tailored recommendations for films, recipes, and sports updates.
The platform enables tasks like creating shopping lists, tracking prices, sending delivery alerts, and comparing products through online reviews. Users can easily control smart home devices and create custom Routines using voice commands without needing to access the Alexa app.
Alexa+ also enhances the multi-speaker setup experience, allowing seamless music playback across different rooms with simple voice commands. The platform’s recent update ensures Alexa understands British users effectively, incorporating regional language nuances and cultural references.
Meryem Tom, Director of Alexa UK, emphasized the importance of adapting Alexa to British communication styles, highlighting the platform’s integration into users’ daily lives through personalized experiences. Amazon reassures users about data privacy, offering transparency and control through features like the Alexa Privacy dashboard.
Interested users can try Alexa+ for free during the Early Access period, after which a monthly subscription fee of £19.99 will apply. Prime members will continue to have complimentary access to the platform. Amazon plans to gradually roll out Early Access invitations to hundreds of thousands of customers in the UK in the upcoming weeks.
