Apple has just commenced its annual WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino, unveiling the upcoming iOS 27 software upgrade set to replace iOS 26 in the fall. The new operating system will introduce enhancements such as customizable Liquid Glass appearance, improved file-finding capabilities, and a more intelligent Siri capable of tasks like email composition, event creation, and ticket booking for events.
With a feature called CPU Scheduler, Apple assures that older iPhone models will maintain responsiveness. Performance improvements extend to all devices, with iPhone and iPad apps launching up to 30% faster, post-capture photo loading up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers up to 80% faster.
A significant addition for parents is a new set of user-friendly features designed to manage children’s device usage, controlling content access, communication permissions, and app availability. This includes features like “Ask to Browse,” “Time Allowances,” and enhanced Screen Time settings to alleviate parental concerns.
Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing user experiences while prioritizing safety. Apple is yet to release the complete list of changes, but it confirms that iOS 27 will be available for all iPhones currently running iOS 26.
The compatible devices for the iOS 27 update include a range of iPhone models from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE (3rd generation).
