Beauty brand Malin + Goetz in UK administration, stores closed

Beauty brand Malin + Goetz has entered administration, leading to the closure of its seven stores in the UK. The affected locations include London’s Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards, impacting over 70 jobs.

Online orders from Malin + Goetz have been temporarily suspended, with a message on their website informing customers of the pause and assuring a return shortly. Despite this setback, shoppers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products from retailers such as Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.

A company spokesperson disclosed to TheIndustry.beauty that after a thorough evaluation of the business, all viable options were exhausted, leading to the difficult decision to place the UK operations into administration, resulting in store closures and the shutdown of the head office. The spokesperson expressed regret for the job losses and acknowledged the impact on both colleagues and customers.

While the website is expected to resume operations after a brief maintenance period, the duration remains uncertain. Founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered a range of six products catering to all skin types before expanding into fragrance, bodycare, and other beauty segments.
