The format of the world championships involves 16 teams in both the men’s and women’s categories, divided into groups of four for the preliminary rounds. The top two teams from each group progress to the knockout stage starting on Saturday, leading up to the medal matches on Sunday to determine the world champions and allocate the coveted Olympic berths.
The top two finishers in each tournament secure direct entry to the Olympics, with a third-place finish sufficient if the U.S. reaches the final, potentially setting the stage for intense bronze-medal matchups.
In the upcoming matches, the Canadian women’s team will face Panama, Brazil, and Japan, while the men’s team is set to play against Austria, Japan, and a forfeited game against Nigeria.
