A teenage girl was swept out to sea by a massive wave, as captured on CCTV footage from a local café, according to the café’s owner, Paul Whitehead. While a staff member attempted to rescue the girl using a lifebelt, she was tragically pulled further out. Tragically, two individuals have died, and one person remains missing following a search and rescue operation off the East Yorkshire coast. Eyewitnesses recounted how several individuals entered the water in a desperate bid to save the girl. A 67-year-old man perished at the scene, and another body was discovered later, as reported by Humberside Police. The search for the missing person was called off by HM Coastguard after efforts proved unsuccessful. Whitehead shared that the CCTV footage captured the girl on steps before being swept away by a large wave. He expressed concern over social media criticisms of people venturing into the sea under dangerous conditions, emphasizing the impact on affected families. Two café staff members rushed to the scene upon realizing the situation, with one entering the water in an attempt to rescue the girl. Despite nearly reaching her with a lifebelt, she was carried away by the water. Reports suggest the girl was taking photos on the steps before being swept into the sea by a wave, prompting bystanders to intervene. Whitehead confirmed the safety of his staff member involved in the rescue attempt, albeit shaken by the incident. Floral tributes have been placed at the scene in remembrance of the tragic event.
