UK Telecoms Implement Mid-Contract Price Hikes

Hyperoptic has revealed a new mid-contract price increase for its broadband customers. Starting in April 2026, customers will experience a monthly bill hike of £4, up from the previous increase of £3. This change applies to both new and existing customers across all Hyperoptic broadband plans. Despite their previous stance against annual price rises, Hyperoptic joins other major telecom companies in implementing larger price hikes lately.

In a shift from their previous policy, Hyperoptic had stated in 2023 that they did not support mid-contract price rises, emphasizing transparency in pricing throughout the contract period.

Sky Mobile has also announced a £1.50 monthly bill increase for a majority of its customers effective February 14, 2026, marking the first in-contract price adjustment in over seven years. Similarly, O2 is set to raise monthly mobile bills by £2.50 from April 2026, exceeding the initially planned increase of £1.80. Three mobile customers opting for data plans of 4GB or less will face a £1.80 monthly increase from April 2026, while those with larger plans will experience higher rises.

Vodafone and Three broadband users will see their monthly bills go up by £3.50 and £2.50, respectively. For Vodafone mobile customers, the bill will increase by £2.50 per month or £1.50 for Basics SIM plans starting November 12. Existing customers of Vodafone and Three will be subject to previously agreed-upon price rises.

If you are not under contract, you may be overpaying for your mobile or broadband services. To save money, consider comparing prices online, evaluating your actual usage needs, and potentially switching providers or negotiating a better deal with your current one. Eligible individuals receiving benefits should explore social tariff options for potential savings.
