“Woman Found Dead at UK Beauty Spot, No Foul Play Suspected”

A body of a woman was found in the sea at a popular beauty spot in the UK. Devon and Cornwall Police responded to the incident at Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, after the discovery was reported around 1:30pm yesterday. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was declared deceased at the scene.

A coastguard rescue helicopter was observed in the vicinity on the same afternoon. Authorities have notified the woman’s relatives, confirming she was a local resident. Police have stated that her passing is currently not considered suspicious, and they will compile a report for HM Coroner, as per DevonLive.

According to a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police, they received the call at approximately 1:30pm on Monday, January 5, following the discovery of the woman’s body at Berry Head, Brixham. Despite the intervention of emergency services, the woman, aged in her 50s and from the local area, was pronounced dead. Her family has been informed, and the incident is not deemed suspicious at this time, with preparations underway for HM Coroner.

Berry Head, forming the southern boundary of Tor Bay and situated east of Brixham, is designated as a national nature reserve.

This occurrence follows a significant search operation under challenging conditions on January 2 in Withernsea for multiple individuals in distress. The Coastguard, alongside the RNLI, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and Humberside Police, conducted the search.

“HM Coastguard received reports around 3:10pm on [January 2] of several individuals in distress in the waters off Withernsea,” a HM Coastguard spokesperson stated.

The Coastguard dispatched a search and rescue helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, and three rescue teams from Withernsea, Hull, and Hornsea. Flight tracking data indicated an aircraft circling over the water near the coast. Additionally, rescue teams from Withernsea, Hornsea, and Hull were mobilized.

“The RNLI’s inshore lifeboat from Withernsea and all-weather lifeboat from Bridlington are providing assistance, along with Hornsea Inshore Rescue,” the Coastguard confirmed. “Yorkshire Ambulance Service, air ambulance, Humberside Police, and Humberside Fire and Rescue are also present.”

In a Facebook post, Hornsea Inshore Rescue highlighted the challenging conditions faced by the teams, including three-meter waves preventing the launch of a lifeboat.

“Due to waves hitting our slipway, the tractor and trailer are at risk of being knocked sideways off the ramp,” the rescuers expressed. “Our 4×4 vehicle is en route to Withernsea with the casualty care crew.”

Yorkshire Ambulance Service reported their presence on-site, along with the air ambulance, tactical commanders, mountain rescue, and Humberside Fire and Rescue.
