“Pregnant Music Teacher, 33, Faces Sexual Abuse Charges”

A pregnant music teacher, aged 33, is facing charges related to the sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years old. Naomi Tekea Craig, who is married, was arrested and accused of two counts of sexual penetration involving a child aged 13 to 16, possession of child exploitation material, and engaging in persistent sexual behavior with a child under 16. The alleged incidents took place between 2024 and 2025.

Craig was working as a music instructor at the private Fredrick Irwin Anglican School when the reported offenses occurred. She was well-liked by both parents and students at the school. The authorities are investigating the incidents that occurred in Mandurah, near Perth, Western Australia. The school’s principal, Tracey Gray, confirmed Craig’s arrest in a letter sent to parents.

In the communication to parents, Gray stated that the arrested teacher is not allowed to be on school premises and assured that there is no cause for concern regarding other students’ safety at the school. The police emphasized their commitment to protecting children and stated that specialized detectives and support services are actively involved in investigating the case and providing assistance to the victims. Craig is scheduled to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 27.

Fredrick Irwin Anglican School mandates a music program for eighth-grade students and charges $8,320 (£4,153) annually for older students. According to reports, Craig was on maternity leave at the time of her arrest and is married. A former schoolmate described her as a wonderful music teacher and friend, expressing shock at the news.
