Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The rise of unsolicited phone calls has become a prevalent issue for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer receives around eight such calls monthly. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this growing concern and enhance customer security, Vodafone has unveiled a new solution called Scam Call Protection. This innovative service leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect and flag potentially deceptive, spam, scam, and bothersome calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection scrutinizes all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification alerting them to a potential scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasized the importance of such measures in today’s landscape: “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard.”
He further added, “Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile provides customers with an additional layer of security – constantly monitoring calls and highlighting known and suspected scam calls. This introduction reinforces our dedication to offering comprehensive built-in digital security, empowering individuals to feel safer, more informed, and in control of their digital interactions.”
This enhancement is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Curious users can trial the service free of charge for three months, with a subsequent monthly fee of £2.
