Police have initiated an urgent inquiry following the discovery of an elderly woman’s body in the aftermath of a house fire. The unidentified woman was found inside a residence in the Sandwood Park area of Guisborough, Teesside, after a fire was reported around 7:45 pm on Monday. Responding to the incident were police, fire brigade personnel, the Great North Air Ambulance Service, and the North East Ambulance Service. The saddening finding was announced this morning, with a cordon still in place around the property. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police stated that the Fire Brigade contacted them about the serious house fire. Tragically, the body of the elderly woman was found inside the premises. Next of kin have been notified, and joint investigations by the authorities are ongoing. The North East Ambulance Service confirmed receiving a call about the fire and dispatched various emergency response teams to the scene.
