“Arriva Bus Skids on Frosty Road, Collides with Marble Pillar in Liverpool”

An Arriva bus slid on a frosty road before colliding with a historic marble pillar near Sefton Park in Liverpool, UK, earlier today. Emergency services promptly responded to the incident, with police securing the area around the junction of Aigburth Drive and Mossley Hill Drive.

Merseyside Police confirmed that they were alerted at 6:05 am about the bus accident involving the Arriva vehicle near the park. The bus, traveling towards Aigburth Road and Aigburth Vale, sustained damage on its front right side during the collision.

Authorities remained at the scene until 10 am, coordinating with the council to remove the bus. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as there were no passengers onboard at the time of the crash.

A representative from Arriva Merseyside stated that an investigation into the incident involving their bus, which was not in service during the accident, is underway.

Recent heavy rain in Liverpool has melted much of the snow and ice from the previous day, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. The UK is currently experiencing an Arctic blast expected to persist throughout the week, with the Met Office issuing weather warnings until Friday.

A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued for various regions in England and Wales, lasting from Thursday evening to Friday noon. Storm Goretti, originating from strong winds in northern France, is predicted to bring wintry conditions, potentially resulting in up to 20cm of snow in some areas.

Disruptions are anticipated in southwest England due to Storm Goretti, with a yellow warning for strong winds in place. The Met Office indicates that while some travel delays are possible with a yellow warning, an amber warning signifies a higher risk of severe weather causing significant disruptions.

The UK recently experienced its coldest night of the winter, with temperatures dropping to as low as minus 12.5°C on Monday, leading to school closures and travel disturbances.
