Fallon Sherrock has advised darts competitors to push through challenges and avoid using sickness as an excuse for subpar showings on the grand stage. While Michael van Gerwen has been absent from Premier League events due to illness, Sherrock doesn’t sympathize with his situation.
Van Gerwen has recently pulled out of three Premier League nights and seemed off his game upon his return against Gerwyn Price. Sherrock expressed her lack of empathy for Mighty Mike’s recent struggles, emphasizing the importance of pushing through adversity in sports.
Speaking on Double Tops, Sherrock pointed out that while illnesses like Van Gerwen’s can be difficult to overcome, players must strive to perform at their best despite the circumstances. She highlighted the challenges women face, such as dealing with menstrual cramps, to illustrate the resilience required in competitive sports.
Despite Van Gerwen’s health issues, he currently holds the third position in the Premier League standings. In contrast, Luke Littler, the reigning world titleholder, has faced a tough start to the competition, ranking seventh out of eight players before the upcoming Cardiff event.
Sherrock remains optimistic about Littler’s performance, believing he is setting himself up for a strong comeback in the later stages of the league. She anticipates Littler surprising critics with a stellar performance and securing a spot at the O2 in London by showcasing his winning abilities.
