Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive pricing is claimed to offer significant savings compared to purchasing a Ring system from Amazon.
The plans come in two options. The first includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It provides full HD video recording, instant phone alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the aim of making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans mark a shift in Sky’s offerings, making their home security devices more accessible as standalone services, unlike their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance bundles.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
