The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with multiple offenses, including driving without due care and without a valid driver’s license.
Following the accident, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the charges against Kayode, with the case adjourned to January 20. The police statement mentioned the legal proceedings and highlighted the details of the case. Joshua, who was on vacation in Nigeria after his recent victory in Miami, mourned the loss of his friends, who had been part of his inner circle.

Joshua was discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve and has not yet addressed the accident publicly. A statement from the Lagos state commissioner confirmed Joshua’s release and his visit to pay respects at a funeral home in Lagos.
