“Limmerick Lion: Strongman Pa O’Dwyer Mourned by Eddie Hall”

Eddie Hall, renowned strongman, paid tribute to the late bodybuilder Pa O’Dwyer, describing him as a “big character” following his untimely passing at the age of 41.

Pa O’Dwyer, a prominent figure in UK strongman competitions, was celebrated for his friendly demeanor, humor, and remarkable strength, culminating in an impressive five victories as Ireland’s Strongest Man. Known as the “Limmerick Lion,” he initially worked on roads in his twenties before transitioning to intensive weight training.

He later emerged as one of Europe’s strongest individuals and claimed the title of UK’s Strongest Man in 2018. Eddie Hall, winner of the Strongest Man contest in 2017, expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news of Pa’s passing.

Hall fondly remembered Pa as someone who exuded strength, joy, and warmth wherever he went. Pa is survived by his cherished partner Layna and their three children – Sienna, Rocco, and Freddy, whom he adored immensely.

In memory of Pa, Hall shared a GoFundMe campaign link to support his family, which has already raised £73,600 out of its £130,000 goal.

Expressing the profound impact of Pa’s absence, Hall emphasized the significant void left behind both emotionally and practically. Those interested in contributing to the campaign can access it here.

Numerous individuals shared their tributes to Pa online, highlighting his amiable nature and recent moments captured, such as playing with Lego alongside his son. The Irish Strength Association acknowledged Pa as a “legend in strength sports in Ireland,” with many others echoing similar sentiments.

Giants Live, the key qualifying tour for the World’s Strongest Man competition, described Pa as a larger-than-life personality who radiated strength, laughter, and warmth to all who crossed his path, leaving lasting memories for many.
