Bulgaria has emerged as the top destination for an affordable summer vacation this year, according to recommendations for families. TravelSupermarket, a travel website, has identified Bulgaria as the most cost-effective option for an all-inclusive sunshine holiday in 2026, with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following closely behind are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.
Data gathered from family holiday searches conducted between October 5 last year and last week for trips between May and September 2026 revealed varying price variations among popular destinations. Bulgaria saw a decrease of £54 per person, representing a 7% drop in average cost compared to the previous summer. Conversely, Cyprus stood out as the most expensive choice at £1,186 per person.
Spain, a perennial favorite among British tourists, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list at £888 per person, maintaining prices at a similar level to 2025. Turkey ranked 11th with an average cost of £1,057, while Greece took the 12th position at £1,096.
For those considering long-haul destinations, Cape Verde emerged as the most budget-friendly at £1,247 per person, with the United Arab Emirates following at £1,297, then the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.
Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, noted, “Bulgaria seems poised to regain its status as the ultimate affordable all-inclusive getaway. Despite some price increases, Tunisia and Morocco continue to be among the top five cheapest countries, offering great value. Croatia, known for its rising costs after adopting the Euro in January 2023, has seen a 12% price reduction, making it more accessible for families seeking a beautiful holiday spot.”
